Thought i'd share this from our little neck of the woods. We have a promotion we do at Portland Meadows called "The People's Horse" where fans get to become honorary owners of a horse, do all the stuff regular owners do (watch training, go in paddock, winners circle etc) at none of the cost.

Well last year's People's Horse was a horse named Mystacallie and she had a wonderful season and many of her honorary owners had a blast watching her run. Well two weeks ago, two of the honorary owners actually claimed Mystacallie and became her real owners! here is the story from the Oregonian about the two ladies.

That's great...

I saw this promotion in action at a harness track years ago and have spent five years trying to encourage the local tracks to use this simple promotion to no avail. Such a simple, yet unforgettable experience and promotion that benefits everyone... glad to see you guys at Portland having success and reaping the benefits of trying...

Now that's a great idea...if the major tracks would do something like that...instead opf advertising give aways such as bobble heads, they could advertise that a horse would be 'given' away...say to 25 people, chosen at random from the days gate...something like that...
