New Trainers at AQU

Seen some names in the entries tomorrow that were foreign to me:

BLACKER
SALLUSTO
MATTIS
WINNEY
FIGUEROA
PEDERSEN
SMALIOS

Does anybody know anything about these trainers, what circuit the majority of them come from???

BLACKER - Albertrani Asst filing in for suspension

MATTIS - Jamaican trainer has been around for years; used to have more horses years ago.


PEDERSEN- former private trainer for Paraneck farm.

Melvin Winney is a hard working one man band ;wins a couple of times a year if the horse in peak form. He risides in Saratoga.

Ironoic she is still "involved" with paraneck after Ernie bounced her
out after years of faithful service .

Note Fishing with Lance is a 5 year old (race 6 ) at Big A.

Hopefully this horse was not one of the tormented ones on the farm
and both trainer and horse can turn their lives around during this
holiday season and next year..

What makes you say she is still "involved" with Paraneck?

She broke all of his horses on his farm before she started training for him, so she has a connection to these horses. Its not like she is just running them for him.

I'll take two of the others....

Sallusto is the father of Nick Sallusto who is a bloodstock agent I believe.

David Figueroa, I believe, has been working on the farm in Saratoga for Jeffrey Tucker who uses John Morrison as his trainer in NY. He has worked with horses for a long time.

I don't ever remember seeing the other name.

I believe the racing operations have been all but wound down at Tucker's farm in Gansevoort, NY, about ten miles from the track.
