From a customer standpoint, Tampa does everything right. The on-track experience is terrific - a nice, clean facility, friendly staff, competent mutuel clerks, reasonably priced concessions, etc... And the simulcast play is outstanding with big fields and competitive races. Saturday's opening day card is fantastic betting-wise and the new options and reduced takeout are just icing on the cake. They are obviously benefitting somewhat from the situation at Calder, where shippers are currently banned, but I look for this meet to TBD's best yet.

they certainly do the best job in the industry. they are very sharp. one of the best things that i like is that not one trainer has 80 stalls like bruce levine does in monmouth. they cater more to the smaller trainer which brings more fans to the game. they have lots of horses that ship in from ocala farms as well. tampa offers the most competetive meet of the year for the length of time that they run. i love berube, he is always dreaming of another way to improve his product. even though they don't have 2 yo races he allows 2 yo's to train starting the beginning of april every year. it just goes to show you the man is not a one way street. even though he doesn't have races for them he realises how important it is for the sport.

I just looked at tomorrow's entries and see Ness only has 1 going in a stakes and Ziadie is nowhere to be found.

Anyone know if this is coincidence or something else?

i am glad i finally made someone here happy! lol

theway that the tampa meet is structured is a picture of beauty. i have no idea how many horses ness has there this year, i suspect less than last year. but with less of him and none of ZIADE it kind of levels off the playing field. there will be more owners in the place and probably a huge increase in handle. the only thing left for berube to do is charge more for signal fees to OTB in new york and charge more for casino signals. so that the purse structure might rise a bit.

by the way an increase in signal fees does not mean that OTB will make any less, i think they will get more business there due to the great product. personally i think that the tampa signal is worth more than the gulfstream or california signals. when you got guys like tommy proctor, jaon scott, timmy ritchey sending first stringers to that place you have a first class product.

i only hope that berube is reading this post before he gives his signal away for peanuts to those guys again.
