In the latest season ending news from Woodbine besides the handle up 7% it was reported that season casualties on the Polytrack went from 10 last season to 12 this season. No word on jocky injuries after hitting the pavement.

Statistically insignificant, I'm sure. In fact, for such a long meet, I'm surprised it's so low.

Break downs and deaths of horses are not issues limited to poly. Be careful or PETA will be calling for the banning of racing as cruelty to companion animals.

How does that compare to the last few dirt seasons?

Tom, maybe we should direct that question to the russmeister. It's true dirt or poly casualties will happen, but not only do the jockeys hit and stop so does the horse. At least on dirt there was give.
