I really like Pyro, I saw him run at Oaklawn.

For some reason Pyro just didnt progress at age 3. Was a prime Derby prospect on the heels of some big 2yr old figs, but his wins at FG were ordinary in the spring. Big bet against in the Derby for me. However, he did get good under Godolphin and ALWAYS came with a big run no matter the pace or distance. Made a nice score on him at Sar as Godolphin couldnt miss. Nice horse.

I was kind of surprised he'll stand in Japan...they seem to stay with stamina type stallions...maybe they need a little speed infused into their bloodlines?
At any rate...he'll be treated like a champion over there and I hope they have great success with him:)

D'oh. I was thinking of seeing him in lousiana in risen star....sorry. You're right.

They had Pyro working out with Curlin quite a bit, and with his other stablemate ZFortune, both who came to Oaklawn.... confused them.

I tend to like small horses, like Pyro and MTB. Pyro's Risen Star is fun to re-watch.

:22.30 final quarter mile in a 1 1/16 mile race, blowing by 10 stakes-level contenders.......rather a wow. Those workouts with Curlin certainly sharpened him up.
