it's been fun to watch his once fawners turn on him. NPR, liberals at work, now forum posters @ DU are now seeing this assclown for what he is. A lying sack. Some of us saw it earlier than others.

If you checked out msnbc after his schpeil tonite, Chris and Keith aren't onboard anymore. Was fun to watch.

Man, those two and Rachel tried to give it some spin as best they could. I heard words like "the tough decisions" and framework and dialogue; but the whole thing kind of stuck in their throats like a crooked chicken bone or something. I didn't see many happy faces anywhere tonight.

There is very little difference between what Obama says and what Bush said. Tonight Obama sited Al Queda as a serious threat to the U.S. and the reason why he wants to escalate or as Bush would call it,the surge.Terminology seems to be the only difference between Bush and Obama.

AL Queda is a term for a group of splintered organizations that has operations all over the world. Removing them from Afghanistan does nothing to stop a global network such as theirs. Should the Afghanistan division fall, it will just resurface elswhere, possibly in Iraq to topple the American backed government in there, if and when the U.S ever does leave.

Obama is taking a huge gamble here. He says this is not his Vietnam, but the PP's show Russia and England, the #2 and #3 powers in the world, were defeated there and the U.S. hasn't made a dent in 8 years. My money is on the Taliban.

Campaign speeches can say anything they want. If you get elected you get the real scoop and make your decisions accordingly. That was something I figured out back in HS.

Progressive/libs can't seem to figure that out. Their steam about this is significant. They know best.

Progressive Leader KO (insert salute) is beside himself. Quotable quotes include:

* The Pentegon is a group of perpetually 12 years old boys
* Disconnect of fundemental logic
* McChrystal, the facilitator of obscenity
* We are to believe that Gen. McCrrystal is not lying about Afghanistan?

Look for BO to be included in KO's puerile Worst Persons List

I don't think O'Bama did himself any favors with this one. Lecture and scold, lecture and scold, same ol' same ol'. Laying down some cost/benefit bullshit rings a little cold, and hardly reverberates like bear any burden, pay any price etc etc etc. I think this might be his Malaise Moment, so it can only go downhill from here.

Did he take back his previous comment about not wanting victory?

"I'm always worried about using the word 'victory,' because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur," Obama told ABC News.

Darn shame he chose to deliver the speech in 'enemy camp' and was a 'strange venue' for Matthews/Maddow/Olbermann.

Some don't want to hear it but it all goes back to Iraq being the wrong place at the wrong time. So Obama has to clean up another mess with no easy way out.

Just another no win situation for anybody who followed the legendary GWB.

"Let me be clear..."

I hope this gutwrenching preamble to his every thought is the title of his next book... and then the whole thing is appropriately written in heiroglyphics.

Just another no win situation for anybody who followed the legendary GWB.According to the neo-litha-cons, we went straight from Ronnie Raygun perfection to Obama communism/socialism/community organizing. No mention of 'Bring 'em on" or "Dead or Alive"

This is what he say two years ago:

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war...."

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war...."Am I the only one who paid attention to Obama? I'm not going to post the video again (I posted it in another thread today)...Obama was talking about IRAQ when he said he was going to "end this war" and "bring the troops home."

When he talked about Afghanistan, it was always "the focal point in the war on terror" and "finish the job" and "send more brigades."

Obama has been pretty consistent in that he has always maintained (as had MOST liberals up until now it seems) that the fight in Afghanistan is worth "fighting and finishing."

They are the ones who "attacked us on 9/11" we were always told by the far-left and Obama-bots. (Never mind they also like to tell us it was mostly Saudis who attacked us, and why didn't Bush invade Saudi Arabia...but that's another left-wing inconsistency for another day).

Agree with PA (for a change, except for the Saudi part). I think Obama was reffering to Iraq with that statement. Cnn actually replayed his position on Afghanistan and Pakistan last night before being elected. It was the position of a war president. I was aware of this, especially with a very warlike (and very scary) attitude towards Pakistan,so I did not vote for him. This escalation comes as no surprise to those who listened to what he was actually saying about that region instead of ignoring it with rhetoric of "hope" and "change". Furthermore he has previously doubled the troops in Afghanistan during his presidency. No one paid attention...again. Slowly the image of a hip and cool president in the WH is being replaced with dissapointment. But DUH! You are never hip and cool when you talk about diplomacy for some countries and bombs for another.

BTW,Pakistan quietly supports the Taliban in Afghanistan. IF this thing spreads into Pakistan like Vietnam did with its neighboring countries,it has the potential to be catastropic for the whole world and make Bush look like a dove.

the disconnect from any type of reality is reaching new heights , even in this mindless clown car of a country.

bama , is a hack and a fool.

the "policy" he "outlined" is on it's face idiotic. Vital national interests but we will wrap those up in 18 months from some point in time next year after we surge into where exactly. Really ..... we had 8 years and now 18 months is going to do it.

We did the whole secure the city and friendly deal once before. That one didn't end at all well.
There are people who don't have a home to "get back to".
I am betting on them everytime.

You and any who back this insane crap are going to be bitterly disappointed when you finally realize that there is no there to surge into.

Only delusional face down in the kool-aid slobs could buy this pile of crap.

Also, I am sick and tired of the prez - Bush-bama , any of them using the troops for a f=kin political prop. Enough already.

What a fascist state this thing has devolved into.
That whole mind blowing circus reminds one of the last couple of Soviet premiers spouting drivel while their country was being bled dry.
