In that last race, he stayed so cool. Susan's Wildcat was running her guts out and Talamo nevertheless just sat cool on his (winning) horse.

I think he has an inner confidence, but even himself seems surprised sometimes. In jockeys, I remember he was telling the interviewer: "last year, I was just sittin' with my parents in our living room WATCHING horse races on TV...."

The winner of the last race was A Jealous Woman who is a 3yo Cal Bred Filly.

I believe the owners get an additional 20k since she was a Cal Bred. This is a new deal in California for Maiden Special Weight races and a nice check for the Owner only. I'm not positive about how it works so if someone knows better please post the real deal.
