I see that the latest ratings are for 2008. We are fast approaching 2010. Is the reason that there are no ratings for 2009 because no track in the country has changed their takeout over the last year? What about California's takeout? Is Hollywood still working under the old system or have they taken advantage of Arnoldroid's generosity   ?

Very few tracks have changed takeout. Woodbine actually dropped their take on tris to a still laughable 27%.

We put our last version out in March last year. We need all the stats (like horses per race average) for 2009 to put up the 2009 version.

We have to wait till all of the 2009 data is in before we put it together (i.e. all of the 2009 meets have started). I expect to have all the data collected and put together before March 1st (about same schedule as last year).
As far as I know Calif. is still at the same level as last year. If you are talking about the legislative action a few months ago, no change in takeout has resulted.

Haven't seen this posted yet. Tampa Bay Downs has lowered their takeout on 5 wagers. Ex from 21.5 to 20.5. Pik 3,4,super hi 5 and pik6 from 20 to 19. Being a pik 4 player I'm psyched that my home track will have one of the lowest takeouts in the country. Props to TB Downs for doing the right thing.

Hmmm, seems that TAM is making an effort to move up in the 2009 ratings (since this meet begins in mid-December it will count for the 2009 ratings). This is a nice move and Tampa Bay management should be commended (and rewarded by horseplayers throwing more $$$ their way!)

This is great news and deserves being trumpeted. I notice some other player centric ideas on their website.

We'll have something up about this soon. Thanks for the heads up Space monkey!

they were a solid #11 last year (story here (http://blog.horseplayersassociation.org/2009/02/hana-track-ratings-11-tampa-bay-downs.html)) and this will prolly move them up some more, imo.

You should update your HANA page to note that Philadelphia Park now has a 50-cent pick 4 and 10-cent superfectas, and have since late September

When you update your chart again, I think you should add a column to designate whether, or not, a track is receiving revenue from alternative gaming; and, even better, what percent of that revenue goes to purses and what percent goes to the track. Of course, you could also indicate what percent goes to horseplayers, but that result is a given.

Here's the best news. Tampa has $1.25 beers (10 oz. i think) until 3 PM every weekday of live racing. Free parking all the time and free admission on weekdays.

Keeneland (the HANA number one track from last rating) is named by Bill Finley in the thoroughbred times as the best racetrack of the decade.

Something is very wrong with the system if that doesn't get them into the top 5.
