Most Americans are already nervous about the what the price tag is going to wind up being for health care reform. As stated previously on this forum, Congress' record for costs projections is extremely poor. NEVER has Congress gotten it right; therefore, Americans should be nervous -- very nervous. We have every reason to be. Congress' modus operandi is to soft pedal their moronic programs with a low price tag to the public to make them appealing up front, but later the the price tag winds up costing taxpayers many times more than the original projections.
But to be fair and balanced, very many Americans aren't too swift either. For example, in this AP story, it is said that 2 out of 3 people polled were in favor of mandated health care coverage. But when told that stiff fines and/or prison time would be imposed for failure to obey the mandate, the vast majority of those polled disagreed with that kind of policy! Huh!? What part of "require" didn't they understand the first time? How did the two-thirds think the requirement would be enforced!? Since when did laws without penalties come to be in vogue? :bang: :bang: (Of course, this rhetorical question doesn't apply to our immigration laws! )
If most Americans are very skeptical already before the devil is revealed in all the myriads of details, I can't begin to imagine what it's going to be like when the light of day shines dispels the darkness that is currently obscuring all the ugly details.
