View Full Version : DRF Hasn't Got A Clue

A few things burn me up:

1. Get Churchill the hell out of the paper DRF! I live near Philly Park - not NY. Most of the Mid-Atlantic can't play CD. It's wasting my money and I'm buying the paper less because of it.

2. Where's Hawthorne in my DRF? Not even one day in a week? Absurd. Today's paper has Charlestown, Mountaineer, Woodbine, Hollywood, and Churchill in it. I can't play CD because of the dispute and I'd much rather play Hawthorne than any AWS track or the West Virginia tracks. We still prefer real dirt around here, don't we Mr. Crist?

3. Calder racing is getting better as we get closer to the end of the year. And they race on grass at Calder. But it's not in today's DRF either.

4. And let's not forget Finger Lakes is closed on Sundays or it would have bumped another track. Probably Philly Park the way things are decided at DRF.

And they race on grass at Calder.

Are they actually doing this again? You mean, their actually running on that uber valuable turf course?

NJ Stinks (classy name, we here in NJ are hoping you move out soon too),

I assume you have Internet access, since you're posting on a message board. Perhaps downloading the tracks you want from some source, DRF or otherwise, would be wise. Whether or not they're putting the wrong tracks "in the paper", there's no reason you have to be limited to that in 2009. But maybe that's just me.

i have a similar, yet the exact opposite gripe. Every weekend my form here in northern VA is filled with, AQ, PH, LRL, MED, HOL, CD, WO, CRC.

if you could please remove, PH, LRL, and put in some reall tracks, ala ANYTHING and EVERYTHING churchill downs owns that would be great, thanks

sincerly,

the dumb sap who actually still pays $7.00+ for your product

I really think their objective is to move you online and this is coming from a person who likes the printed edition best.

Still think my forecast is spot on and the will a "kindle" type "reader" a few years down the road and the paper edition will be gone.

That's it! They want you to buy online.

Got to tell you I like the run ups in the PP's with formulator. It's not just the information but the spaces in between running lines caused by the addition of run ups and turf rail postions. That make the online version easier for me to read. You do use some extra paper though!

formulator is where its at  by far the best past performances to ever come along. i like the fact you get the horses entire career instead of just recent.

There will always be DRF print edition, but in a few years you might only be able to get it at the track/OTBs/casinos.

You are buying an east coast edition that must include certain tracks, like it or not.

One reason for the omission of at least one extra track that everyone seems to want in his edition -- at least in the east -- is that those who make the editorial decisions at the DRF insist on including the amount of material in the "Editorial" section. That is a major obstacle to including that one extra track in the eastern edition. I suspect that the Editorial section excludes an additional track in all of its editions.

I hate the DRF paper since its hard to remove pages from it without affecting the other track pages. And if you're outside, the wind just loves to blow it around like crazy making it difficult to even read. Its so much easier to look online. I don't have Formulator although it looks beneficial. I've used ultimate pp's for awhile now and really like them.

How come all tracks don't include pp's with the program you paid for? I really like how some tracks do this, but when I go to Canterbury Park, they aren't part of the program. I guess maybe its better for us that these small tracks don't do this since you can get good horses at decent prices because the majority of the people just listen to the track handicappers.

Do you realize how many people at the track buy the DRF compared to the stinky simulcast program? My friend and I did a survey in a room where we pay and it has consistently been under 25%. This is people paying for a seat with a personal tv, outside with the masses it's much lower.

Trust me it will gone and I'll miss it.

Castaway01, I started using 'NJ Stinks' a few years after online betting and OTB's were passed by NJ voters in 2001. At the time I was pissed that years were going by and the powers that be in NJ were not doing a thing to get Internet betting or OTB's operational. Finally, Internet betting started in May, 2005 in NJ. By then I wanted people in various racing forums to know it was me when I posted. So I kept the username. Long story short, I'm not moving anywhere. I like living in NJ and I like my NJ Wagering account.

I dislike printing PP's and really prefer reading from the DRF printed edition. And I'm ornery enough that I buy my PP's from Brisnet when I do feel the need to get them from the computer. DRF isn't getting any more cash from me in one day beyond the cost of their newspaper. Seems fair to me.

Do you save the PPs and for how long?

Downloading from the internet has been a blessing for me. I used to keep the print edition in boxes and when I wanted to look something up,which I do every day, it was a real pain in the butt.

Now I have all my PPs in my computer and it only takes a few seconds to go back to a race I want. I am so much better off without a print edition.:)

These Blokes drop he DRF of in Worcester-Now I'm what 40 miles fom Suffolk-

When I started to play--2+ years ago---Would you think Suffolk would be in it-

Hell No--So-I ended up Playing and Learning other tracks that they carried-

So I get Formulator-I can't keep track--I know at times--The Math of what I used was off--And--It wasn't that much of a Benny for a Newbie--

With the Paper--You could spot Play-Formulator-Nope--Unless you Piss thru your package---Its so Unreal--That The ((It)) So called (it) in Horse racing-Kills Newbies in the Game--

As Far as My Opine-is--The DRF needs New Management-

On The Preakness Last year BB's Year--The DRF never made it to Worcester--

Fumigate the place-

Sorry so Hard--I feel like Sh1t Thrice over today--And This Issue-Burns my ass-

the sheer amount of information with the formulator pp's is worth it but i do not use them because in order to benefit from them i find i need too much time to properly look for angles and make my selections.I like the bris ultimates and have been using them for two years now. Most information in one set of pp's for the dollar outside of formulator and uses less paper. When i retire in a few years and have more time i will use formulator or something similar from another source.

i was never so embarrassed in all my life!!!

Things are looking up.

1. No Churchill in Saturday's DRF.
2. Calder included.
3. No Finger Lakes

Saturday's National Simulcast edition DRF sold here has Aqueduct, Calder, Laurel, Philly, Woodbine, Hollywood, and the Meadowlands. Trade Woodbine for Hawthorne and I'm out of complaints.

I picked up tomorrows and Churchill is in it but on the plus side so is Hawthorne.

CNL doesn't carry the printed version of the DRF. They have a machine that prints copies of the tracks you select. No news, no selections - just past performances.

What you get is a pile of loose paper. There isn't even a stapler handy. It would be nice if the form was printed on paper with holes for a 3 ring binder. I wouldn't mind bringing a binder.
