Beth and I went to see 2012 today. Before going we read the reviews.
* Our local newspaper gave it 1 out of 5 stars.
* Rotten Tomatoes had it at 37%.
* MRQE had it as a "C."
Well, I just do not know how anyone could not enjoy this picture! It was just a thrilling ride all the way through. You'll love the characterizations.
Now, don't get me wrong... it is no academy award winner. And you won't have to look too hard for technical flaws (like how people had cell phone service after local cities were destroyed).
But it has some of the best special effects ever! Some are a bit too close, even ridiculously so (reminiscent of an Indiana Jones movie).
Nevertheless, you spend a lot of time gripping your seat and rooting for the good guys (and occasionally against the kind-bad guys).
All in all, for exciting fun, I give it an "A."
If you insist on grading it on an a high quality drama level, then "C" is just about right.
