Belmont and Saratoga make a living out of the turf sprint. What is with the Aqueduct turf course configuration that makes having turf sprints not possible???

aqua-dick
is only a 7/8ths course
and it would be maybe a 5 furlong sprint
at the max.
Cant see 4 1/2 f's.

Many turf courses are 7/8 and 5/8 sprints are very popular with full fields, much like the 5.5 furlong races at Saratoga.

Belmont and Saratoga have 2 turf courses, Aqueduct has only 1. Simple math as they don't want the course destroyed.

Hooray for Aqueduct. We need less turf sprints; not more.

Do people hate these so much because they can't figure them out? I used to avoid them before I learned how to look at them, but I can't say I ever hated them and they are very popular at the entry box, which is a good thing.

I'm with you...I'm for any race that draws full fields.

Look for the horses that are ON TOP at the second call. THEY WIN OFTEN. It is not your typical come from out of it turf racing there.

An occasional one is okay it just seems that they card them to death. 10 years ago, I don't think they carded anywhere near the number they do now.
