I will be in LA from Friday-Sunday for this year’s BC and will be staying at the Hyatt Regency. Are there any great seafood restaurants in this area? I did find a list of the top seafood restaurants in LA on the Internet, but I would prefer a recommendation from someone who has first–hand dining experience/

If you're gonna eat seafood, go down to the beach to get the whole experience:

Gladstones is the place.

Last time I was there I had the "Clambake." About $75 as I recall. I still dream about it.

Great idea - driving up the coast.

Then, on the way back, you can do Gladstone's again.

Unfortunately, the menu only lists the prices in "Malibu Dollars," which are a little foreign to the rest of us.

We would like to take a ride up the coast, but I am not sure our schedule will allow for it unless we extend our visit and return on Tuesday which we might do.

Cratos,
If you want some spiritual nourishment after (or before) your dinner I strongly recommend a visit to the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine. It's just up the road on Sunset Blvd from Gladstones. They are open Sunday so that might work for you. A truly beautiful and serene place which honors all religions.

Truthfully, whenever I have been to San Francisco, I have always been disappointed in the seafood. I find it to be outrageously priced for average or below quality.

Of course, coming from the buffets of Reno, where you get amazing meals for $25, every place looks overpriced. (Perhaps this is why I struggle with my weight?) :bang:

Just over a week ago we were in Monterey (which is south of SF). The place to eat there is a fish market - Phil's. (Actually, it is in Moss Landing - dead center on Monterey Bay - about 17 miles from Monterey.)

BTW, just came back from a nice inexpensive Asian buffet. They had snow crab, mussels, pretty good sushi (though not much selection), 6 different kinds of shrimp, including peal-and-eat and salt & pepper prawns. Check for 2 was $21. Nothing like food in Reno!

Galdstones is blah. Primarily for touristas.

If you hit a nice exacta on Fri, head downtown to the Water Grill. Best seafood in all the land. And I have to admit, the deep fried catfish at the Parkway Grill in Pasadena is pretty good also if you're into that - bout 10 minutes from the track.
