Visually, an entire field of greys is a beautiful thing.

1 Last Noble (KY)
2 Il Postino (KY)
3 Spartan King (KY)
4 Cozzene's Destiny (KY)
5 Dancin' Dixie Cat (KY)
6 Carry the Day (NY)
7 Goldie Lane (KY)
8 Raynicks Fan (NY)
9 Lightning Power (FL)

The Gray Ghost has been around for many years and always has my favorite picture of the year as they leave the starting gate. Surprised that they only got 9 this year because I have seen full gates. I guess it just depends on how many grays/roans fit the race condition but a starter handicap is probably the best way to draw a good betting field.

The Grey Ghost is a cool race. We won the race via a DQ with a horse named Casanovia in the late 80's. It was a ton of fun and the fans were really into it.
Other tracks, Philly Park for example, offer a 'grey or roan' only race as well. At Philly it is the 9th tomorrow.

How did the bay get in there? He must look a lot different up close compared to the rest of the field.

He really stuck out in the Gray Ghost field...you can see a little gray in his tail if ya look close...there is a brown color roan...I think it's called Chocolate Roan, or some damned thing...this horse will probably change color quite a bit as he gets older.
:) Thanks for the video, Java Gold:ThmbUp:

Sadly, after scratches the Grey Ghost field is off the turf and down to 4.

You would have to be a ghoul to bet this race after scratches. Sadly, after scratches the Grey Ghost field is off the turf and down to 4.

The greys/roans get almost white as they age. I remember seeing Spectacular Bid when he was in his teens and he didn't even remotely resemble the same color I saw when he was racing. I thought a roan was a grey with some redhead in him. Maybe I'll have to go back to look up the official designations.

For all those who love greys, here's a Larry Zap video of some great greys training at Oak Tree. (http://maryforney.blogspot.com/2009/10/zap-of-week-greys-at-oak-tree.html)
