The cops responding to the scene should all be disciplined.

They should have found that kid in the first 20 minutes.

You get training for this kind of thing in many states. It all starts with a complete grid search of every inch of the house and any buildings in the immediate area..............

Nope......they bought the boy in the balloon bullshit............ :bang:

What does a 6 yr old weigh? A mere 20lb weight could have dropped that large JiffyPop in mile. That thing went 50 with cops in tow.

They seem to be having a ball at the news conference with the family. Spending a bit of time in CO, I've never dug the local folk. Let's see if they can make less fools of themselves than they did with the Jon Benet fiasco.

Put the Dad in jail...This family has already been the reality TV route on "Wife Swap".

The entire thing smells.

After the news conference, the kid ran out in the back yard and fell in a well.

I think it is put-up job as well. The parents didn't look as relieved as you would think they were to find him safe. The kid needs a beating for all the trouble. Instead they let him stand in front of the camera pulling his shirt over his head and acting like he did nothing wrong. What if someone chasing the balloon had a wreck and died? Then it would be a tragedy that did not have to happen. What about all those people chasing the balloon that were taken away from a possible real emergency?

This whole thing really pisses me off. I watched at work with some other people during a break and while it was fascinating and bizarre it was also frightening. The idea that there was a young child in there and the "odds" seemed excellent that this could have an ugly outcome and we might witness it. It does seem to stink and even if the idiot father didn't know what was going on he is still an idiot for having that thing in his backyard and not making sure there is no way some kid could let it go. I am normally not a violent guy but someone should hit that guy in the forehead with a 2 by 4!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent points.

I'm sure future emergency rescue training will include this situation.

They interviewed the brother over and over while he stuck to his story. This is a perfect example of eye-witness inaccuracy.

They need to identify the good procedures and improve the bad. The "Boy in the Baloon" will be studied for years to come.

The brat should have been in school. I haven't heard anyone in the media ask why he or his brothers weren't.

Today, he mesmerized America by throwing up on two networks!
Is there no end to his talent?

Hear the 911 call?
The father describes the balloon, its function, it's specifics.....the guy is lying through his choppers. It was a fraud.

Authorities Preparing to Charge Heene Family

For the first time, 25-year-old researcher Robert Thomas reveals to Gawker how earlier this year he and Richard Heene drew up a master plan to generate a massive media controversy using a weather balloon. To get famous, of course.

This thread is ballooning out of control.
The implications of your post are "up in the air."
It raises the question about the Heenes,
"What lies on the ground about one hundred feet in the air?"
Answer: Probably the Heenes.

But for the puzzlers on this board, I ask:
Cryptic to Toetoe, Banacek, Overlay and Falconridge, or whoever:

"What lies on the ground with one hundred feet in the air?"

I understand of course that these cruciverablists may not even see this post.
But they are active on this message board.
(Of course Banacek should take a stab. He started this discussion.)

(Drat. Your spell checker has been fixed, almost.)
But well done.
Query: centipede as well.

The more accurate question should be

"What lies on the ground with one hundred and ten feet in the air?"

Answer

"A dead centipede and the Heene family on their backs laughing their asses off at the rest of us!"

They are looking at Federal Charges..............Felony Charges.

Dad is going to be unemployable in a few months.............

I disagree with that tact. I would have went Misdemeanor and gone for big time public service

Public service? Give him to Obama?
