Ever hear of polytrack? Its what the BC is on this year and Belmont doesn't have it. Yet 3 of the top sprinters are there anyway. Small but quality field, especially considering the race is on dirt.

Don't they have to run 5 for the super???
Who even looks at these joke races anyway???

5k claimers 8-10 runners anytime.

Would agree with OTM Al's point as the primary reason, since this doesn't make for the most suitable BC prep...Fabulous Strike may seem almost invincible at 6F but IMO he didn't win his last very comfortably - he was unable to gain on the longshot leader until pretty late in the race, making the even money takers sweat a bit.

The one that shocked me was 5 horses in the Kelso on Sunday for $250,000. That used to be one of the best races leading into the BC Mile. Always had a full field and some longshot winners.

The Kelso has been losing horses to the Woodbine Mile over the last few years. That one is too close to the Kelso to get top horses in both races. $1M slot infused at Woodbine or $250K at Belmont?
