In the 6th race tonight, Bear Den a 4 y/o Florida bred gelding, suffered an apparent heart attack after finishing a close 2nd in a 3.5 furlong dash at Hastings. This rider was thrown hard to the track when the horse went down. Preliminary reports from the crew who looked after him in the ambulance report broken collarbone and ribs.
