Odd betting today at Golden Gate (9/20)

The first race exa pool was 10k.

I don't think i've ever seen pools so low. Later on in the day, they were getting 40 and 50 grand exa and tri pools. Its really alarming that they only got 10 grand in the exa and tri pools for the first race.

Just a guess, but this race was scheduled to go to post at 12:45 Pacific. This is the time when the early NFL games are wrapping up, and the late NFL games are getting ready to kickoff. It's a 5 horse field with 2 entrants at less than 2/1. My guess is that the bettors ignored the race in favor of watching the end of the early NFL games. I know that's what I would have done.

Nah. Most everybody in CA skipped Fairplex as usual, so no residual betting on GGF. The latter has had some good fields on weekends, but apparently few will come out for GGF alone.

small pools lead to smaller bets from everyone, which leads to much lower handles!
