I started my new approach to the game with my Monmouth Sept. 6 selections. I've moved that thread to here since I had to change the thread name going forward.

To be fair, i also had to include $41 worth of losing bets I didn't post.

MONMOUTH LATE PIK 4
15% takeout. A HANA favorite although Monmouth doesn't get a good overall grade.

R7) Lightly raced Affirmatif,1, has been off the board only once in 6 starts. Gets blinkers for Pletcher. Good race this level last out at SAR. Big Push,2, likes the distance, should be close to the pace. main contender. Klesaris is 36% with 2nd starts with trainer. Beacon Hill Road,4, is trying a turf sprint for the first time. Won an off the turf 5 1/2 race 2 back. Freshened, ran a close 3rd on the dirt. Dangerous in second off layoff.

R8) Miro,3, and east End Tap,4, were a neck apart in last, look the best of these. Miro had the wide trip, should prevail with a better trip. Neatoknock,5, is moving up but in tremendous form. Repenthouse,1, closed well in 6F effort last out. Likes this distance better.

R9) Get Serious,4, should have it all his own way on the lead. Mambo Meister,2, steadied in last, had 2 wins and 3 seconds in previous 5. Good 2nd, 2 back in the 4Stardave. Main contender.

R9) Intiyaco,8, should take them all the way if anything near old self. Gets 10 lb bug. Call the Marines,6, drops off a poor effort on the slop. Close 3rd 2 back for 10,000. Calabria Bella,10, has had 2 preps for this off a year layoff.

I had good luck at Indiana Downs earlier this year, so I'll give Hoosier's Pick 4 with a 21% takeout a shot. The small mutual pool is a negative. Since I'm not familiar with their horses/trainers etc, I'll take advantage of their .50 cent bet for today.

Strangest thing, the 3 ran wide needlessly around the turn, wide backstretch where he checked because of the 8 or took a bad step, continued wide around the turn and finished running out around the 15 path. I sure would like to hear what Mojica said to the trainer when he dismounted.

Although I lost, I found Hoosier to be OK. The $900, .50 payoff was more than I thought it was going to be. I'll consider playing this track in the future.

This isn't what I envisioned when I made the pick 4 my primary bet. When I made the play I was afraid it might turn out pretty chalky. I had to go out and got home to watch the races on replay. As each odds on fave won, I had the sinking feelong in my stomach that I might hit this and lose $. I was rooting hard for the 9-2 shot to win the last leg. He did and I still ended up only turning a profit(sic) of $5.05. I was considering betting the second race tri. Good thing I didn't, because I would have hit it but the $15 payoff on a $2 bet would have blown my profit for the day :bang:

20-1 Silver Cadillac off a 3 month layoff bet down to 6-1 won like Secretariat. Do you bet a horse that had gotten beat by an average of 20 lengths in his last 5 starts off an equipment change and a dot workout? If you follow the money,,yes. Oh well, small track happenings.
