8th Race - winner pays $109.00
9th Race - winner pays $7.20

Pick 3 Pays - $1322.40

Not the return one would want to see for including 2 longshots

What simulcast are you going to ???hey dennis my good buddy, i am not that smart, i have been looking for that simulcast outlet for years now and i can't seem to find it!!!

the guys at the parimutuel department keep telling me about simulcast money whenever i complain about low payouts and odds dropping on the leaders in the race.

I missed the sarcasm P.

I thought for a minute there that you were losing your mind.

Forgetting about the ridiculousness of the payoff, what takeout could possibly led to that payoff? Is it a 10% takeout ( and therefore $3 on the combo )?

I think it is 10% these days at good old Laurel.

Pool was $4453

Minus 25.75% takeout = $3306

Payout was $661.20 for $1

$5 on combo = $3306

The $2 pick 4 was only $737 with a pool of 7,858. Must be a lot of sharks swimming in those tiny pools – and getting good rebates too, I hope.

i've said it once i'll say it a million times only bet tracks with big poolsi think that is good advice!

but i have seen low payoffs is higher handle tracks as well.

i hit a daily double in a low handle track, i had a $3.00 DD. the winner in the first race paid $3.40, the second half paid $29.00 the daily double paid $23.40!

that was at POCONO this week. but that is to be expected there. i think the rebate there is 12% for win and 13% for the double, turns out to be a stupid bet on my part.

If I remember correctly after reading the chart, that payoff was for 3 of 4.

I hit this pick 3, I was certainly pissed.
Race 4
4 Tons of Fun Grant Whitacre 12.40 6.60 2.20
Race 5
8 Profit Sheldon Russell 36.40 14.60 9.00
Race 6
8 Tazaliya Abel Castellano, Jr. 12.80 7.40 3.20

My ticket was 4 with 8/13 with ALL. The first race there was a 1/5 shot I believe and the second race my two horses ran one-two with the 13 losing its whip.

2 Pick 3 4-8-8 (3 correct) 563.80

And speaking of tiny pools helping to cause strange looking payoffs… check out the 7th at CT yesterday.

$2 tri pays $358,
super pays $171.

Less than 2K up for grabs in the super pool. :D

we can all look forward to decreasing handles. once the spiral heads down it keeps going down until they find new people to get interested in the sport. the racing industry has done a great job chasing people away from the game.

eventually these guys that aren't worth a quarter are going to lose their big paychecks and maybe then one of those sharp guys might get the wax out of their ears and listen to the solutions to get the game back. my prediction is that first they blowup the racing game and then the slot machines will die out as well.

i want to congradulate the NTRA, you have been around for over a decade and have managed to dismantle this game.

with an assist from the breeders cup, and the many breeders who use these "fashionable" stallions that aren't worth didly. get 5 races out of a horse nowadays and your one of the fortunate ones
