White House Science Adviser Advocated 'De-Development' of the United States
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
By Christopher Neefus

(CNSNews.com) – President Obama’s top science adviser, John P. Holdren, advocated the "de-development" of the United States in books he published in the 1970s.

"A massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States," Holdren wrote in a 1973 book he co-authored with Paul R. Ehrlch and Anne H. Ehrlich. "De-development means bringing our economic system (especially patterns of consumption) into line with the realities of ecology and the global resource situation."

In the vision expressed by Holdren and his co-authors, the Ehrlichs, the need for "de-development" of the United States demanded a redistribtuion of wealth.

"The need for de-development presents our economists with a major challenge," they wrote. "They must design a stable, low-consumption economy in which there is a much more equitable distribution of wealth than in the present one. Redistribution of wealth both within and among nations is absolutely essential, if a decent life is to be provided to every human being."

It has been WELL KNOWN for a very long time now that a civilization that keeps using 10-20 times the amount of raw materials of any other civilization on the planet cannot continue to expand as the world over population keeps eating into that demand. Unlimited growth in a FINITE world is an oxymoron that can never take place.

46, your point of "over-consumption" is well taken, as man is totally out of control with all of his "stuff".....

But the point of "redistribution of wealth" is where it ends for me.....

Given the current state of the economy, what I see is, there has "already been" a great "RE-Distrubiton of Wealth".....so much so, that the middle class and the struggling class are slowly but surely melding into "One class".....And that smacks of Red-stuff, imo.....

But, you like that don't you...?

So, tell us, please: Just when do you plan on doing the morally right thing by making your exit in a timely fashion?

Now...that's one way of thinning out the herd, isn't it? What do you say, zilly?
