I am wondering what Thistledowns will look like after Harrah's gets done with it.

Unlike Remington Park, which has a casino, Texas law does not allow for that sort of gambling at racetracks. Elliott said the tribe would like to see that changed.

Do tell.

Lone Star fired many, reduced many more employees to part time two weeks ago to get this deal thru. Texas has their money flooding out to all 3 surrouinding states via slots and/or casinos, yet people in Austin ponitificate they are "keeping Texans from gambling"..really? Have they ever been to a New Mexico, Lousiaina or Oklahoma casino and looked at the parking lot and the license plates? The other states are laughing all the way to the bank.
C'mon Texas get with it and save racing!!!!!!!!!

Mac...I was surprised when the tribe was mentioned as a buyer of LSP. With all of the building at their Thackerville Casino (just a couple of miles North of the Red River)...I would think the last thing the Chickasaws would want is Texas Casinos.

EzThat casino has one of the best poker rooms I've ever been to (and some of the best action!). I did notice that they actually remodeled and reopened their small simulcast room last time I was there.

I was by there today..and they have done a lot of work, including a new hotel. The simulcast room is rather small...but adequate for the players.. It is a tip top operation..but, little doubt that it is Texas supported.

CB..remember your mentioning that you have Palo Pinto ties...ever get back to this part of the country?

EzI have family about 20 miles west of Gainesville. My mom did live there, but I have moved her to Vegas for now. I still get back there from time to time to visit and will be back there sometime within the next month or so to let my mom visit and hopefully get her house ready to sell (and play some 2/5 with the Dallas trust fund children who think they know how to play poker ). I haven't been out towards Mineral Wells or Possum Kingdom in forever.
