Its a trial race, where the top X number of finishers from each trial get into a final stakes race. Usually a futurity if I'm not mistaken, much more common in Q-horse racing, though they use time and not finish position. I'm guessing that's from Lone Star, I know the have a couple days like this each year.

Yep, Lonestar has 2 of those on the card tonight. Was looking for a track to play later that wasn't covered in water or full of crappy races, guess I'll go to bed early tonight.

Careful when you play the trial races. Thats how D.Meche got
suspended for mths. The Jocks dont go all out, They want to
conserve for the big prize.........:mad:

Depends where you get your information, the DRF has noted Starter Allowances in the past as Stakes Trials at some tracks. You may want to double check the track's condition book or another source (Equibase, etc.)
