Ruidoso Downs is running 20 races today, and I remember The Red Mile (harness) had at least one 20-race card last year. Saratoga Harness has had a couple of days where they ran matinee/evening cards that totaled 26 races, but 20 is the most I can recall for a single card. Can anyone remember a single race card of 21 or more races?

I remember back in 2002 (I believe) when Hastings park canceled Wednesday night racing and went to a 2 day a week (Sat, Sun) they routinely ran 14-15 races a day. I remember the races starting at about 1:30pm and running well in the late evening, often last post wasn't until 8 or 9pm.

It was just silly when you think about it, I don't think I ever stayed for an entire card.

I can't imagine (thoroughbred) tracks putting on a 20 race card, there must be less than 30 minutes between the races.

That's quite the card that they're running, trainer Paul Jones has 21 horses entered on that single card, that's got to be a record.

Back in the good 'ole days when it took us 10 minutes to enter at Fair Meadows Tulsa (and that's no joke) we routinely ran 15 race cards with FULL fields, AND ran 5 days a week! I seem to remember 20 trials there that once started at 8am in the morning, and I also remember a 22 race trials card @ Ruidoso in the past....As for day/night double headers, Delta Downs at one time (pre slots) ran Quarter horses in the daytime and Thoroughbreds at night..............

Ruidoso is running a card today comprised of 22 trial races at 400 yards for 2 year olds. The DRF Entries page for Ruidoso (http://www.drf.com/race-entries/RUI/USA/2011-07-08/D) omits the race numbers after Race 15. The race number is missing from the last seven races, and only the post time is shown above the conditions and entries for those races.

On the "Select Track" portion Twinspires' Wagerpad they have "Ruidoso" (for races 1-20) and "Ruidoso Race 21" (which is actually Race 21 and Race 22).

At an average of 19.55 seconds per race.
They could have run 50. :D

the little brown jug day at delaware can get in a cool 25 races including heats...they even had betting on young girls riding standardbreds with a saddle included in some of the cards... i think lillian green competed like that once....
