He's a freak , and what's truly amazing is that he's faster than that .

I heard former world record holder Maurice Greene say he isn't close to reaching his potential at this point.

Heard a commentator say Bolt thinks he can run a 9.4, also said full flight each of his strides is around 10 feet. I think it's cool he looks like he is barely trying and having a blast like a kid running from his parents. How many athletes look like they are having fun doing their thing when they are at the highest level of achievement? Maurice Green just said 'phenomenal'. I agree.

Does Edwin Moses count? Couldn't remember if he was a sprinter or hurdler. But he may have run a hurdle/sprint. He probably had the longest winning streak of any human, horse or team that I've ever heard of.

He was a hurdler, 400m. He was certainly dominant for a long time. The thing with Bolt is that he wins the 100 meters with ridiculous ease for a race so short.

Moses won 107 consecutive finals between 1977 and 1987 (122 consecutive races) and set the world record in his event four times.

Never before Bolt has anyone won a world-class 100-meter dash by open daylight.

I agree that it is just totally sick how you can beat a field that easily in a 100 meter race, but I still will always remember Michael Johnson running the 200 and 400 at his peak as the most incredible performances I have seen, especially the 400.

This must have been a fast track for sure, since I think a few of the runners ran personal bests, and I think the American record was broken as well.

There is no doubt that Bolt is a freak and faster than any human on the planet. I just have a problem with track and field world records in general. Every track built these days is built to produce world records and incredibly fast times. It's the same as people who complain about horse tracks souping up the surface to get a record time in a major stakes race.

If you want to see a man as dominant or more dominant than Bolt is today then watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXIe5GbLSUs

60 years ago Jesse Owens didn't have polymer, rubberized tracks to run on or high tech shoes that were specifically designed and fitted to him, no engineered starting blocks, no streamlined shorts and jersey. He just flat out ran faster, jumped higher and jumped longer than any other man on the planet.

I do believe that if Owens had all of the advantages of today that bolt would have some very serious competetion. In 1936 Owens ran a 10.3 100 meters. That standard has been lowered by less than one second even with all of the technology advances.

Bolt deserves all the credit he gets and it's great that there isn't a hint of steroid use yet but Jesse could take him in today's world.

Now he's bettered his own world record in the 200-meter.

I would like to see him stretch out and sit on the lead with that speed :)

Anybody else see that mascot get destroyed by a cart on the track while giving a piggy back ride to one of the Jamaican winners? It was pretty funny. Here it is if you havent seen it.
