MONMOUTH PARK TO HOST RUN FOR RERUN DAY AUGUST 9TH
Monmouth Park, in Oceanport, NJ, will be hosting a day of charity for ReRun, Inc., a nonprofit Thoroughbred adoption program that rehabilitates, retrains, and finds adoptive homes for Thoroughbred racehorses when their careers on the track are over.
The featured event is “The Monmouth Mile”, a one-mile run/walk on the racetrack that begins at 11:30 am. The public can register to participate in this Run for ReRun from now until August 7 by going to the track’s events webpage http://www.monmouthpark.com/event_detail.aspx?id=511 and downloading the entry form. All runners must pre-register by August 7. Proceeds from The Monmouth Mile benefit ReRun.
Other activities of the day include: Special demonstrations by ReRun’s retired racehorses, a meet-and-greet with some of the Thoroughbreds up for adoption, autograph signings by jockeys and trainers, a special memorabilia sale, and, of course, a day of horse racing.
For more information about this event, contact Monmouth Park’s Sophia Mangalee at sophiamangalee@yahoo.com. To learn more about ReRun, visit www.rerun.org.
