Another well run racino

In the end, not a lot of punishment or blame has been meted out for a crime that stole at least $300,000 from a casino and ripped off tax dollars earmarked for education. Reviewing the state's investigative reports, it's clear that one reason is that the casino was so inept at regulating itself that it couldn't be determined who stole what. Either that or Gulfstream hindered the investigation. It was accused of a bit of both.

The casino's lead slot technician Feliciano and slot attendant Reinaldo Paonessa were granted a license to work but both of them falseified information on their applications. This type of illegal activity happened only because of incompetence by the company. What's the sense of having an application for employment if the human resouce department doesn't follow through with a background check? Paonessa intentionally left out a petty theft convinction on his application. Feliciano never put down on the application that he was fired from Horizon Edge Casino Cruises because of a postitive cocaine test not to mention, his traffic-related misdemeanor. Janjua and Feliciano practically get a slap on the wrist only receiving probation. Vice president of gaming Eric Lemerand was suspended and then allowed to resign. Wow Lemerand is barred from the property for one year. Most of the other employees were fired but one is supposely still working there. Can you imagine? Yeah, I'm sure they all have learned their lesson and will never do anything illegal the rest of their lives. What a world we live in.

50% is the tax rate on the slot machine revenue to the track, not on the actual takeout for players.

Hell, comparatively speaking even trainers get a harder slap on the wrist than that. If those deals were any lighter I would swear those guys were either politicians or Wall Street bankers.
