How about everyones "early" picks of the day and longshot of the day.

Pick of the day can be Exotic single, most likely winner... Anything you want it to be.

Pick of the day- Race 2, Big Brownie " this one could end up being a price"

Longshot Play- Race 9, Vivid Colors

I have a ton of horses I like at prices.

Big Brownie is 10-1 morning line. I also think Borels mount might be live in the second.

Vivid Colors is 12-1, I also think the other Mcpeek might be ok at 6-1.

Anyone going to throw a few horses out ?

I watched Big Brownie after first race. I will bet him again Wednesday and hopefully he does something. If not I am done with him.

Featur race I like Hot Dixie Chick if spped is good.

Very fast horse on rail and should get to the lead.

Start the year off with a 7-8-10 exacta box

I never forget what steve christ recommended for the BC betting , that instead of playing p3,4 try the doubles. Just printed out the pps and with such full fields, the spreading of plays might just eat up a lot of bankroll pretty quickly with a couple of tickets. Now to work.

I like Saratoga Russell in the 8th especially if I can get anywhere near his m/l price of 12-1 which I doubt. Should go better 2d start off shelf.

The 8th is a hard read for me.
The Jerkens feels like a trap. I kind of like the Harty. He has big numbers syn/dirt.

FREEDOM RINGS in the 2nd looks like the most likely winner of the day.
A couple longshots I like are GOLD TRIPPI in the 3rd and DEPUTYVILLE in the 6th.
I just hope the rain holds off and races stay on the turf. Check my link below for opening day selections.

in the 3rd@Saratoga Wednesday, I'm part-wheeling #6,Finallymadeit with #5,Riley Tucker in tris, & boxing 'em in an exacta. Trainer change to Ritvo on madeit, Best Beyers on Riley; against PYRO & Honour Devil; will toss in Silver Addition & Gold Trippi underneath in super part-wheels.

KNOW THE HORSE WELL. WAS ONE OF MY DBY. FUTURE BETS. HE HAS NEVER LEARNED TO RELAX. HE IS IN THE BRIDLE FROM THE GET GO. THE RACE LOOKS TO ME LIKE AN INSANE SPEED DUEL . HE WILL HAVE MANY FRIENDS UP FRONT. I FEEL THE RACE WILL FALL APART. I WILL USE IN DBL & P3S 3,6,9. ALL WHO I FEEL CAN RATE. AND MAKE AN EX BOX. RUSSELL WAS DEAD FIT BEFORE THE COMEBACK AT MTH. HE HAD MANY WORKOUTS, AND IF HE CAN'T WIN AT SPEED FAVORING MTH. ?????? ITS THE BEST OPENING DAY CARD IN MANY YEARS. GOOD LUCK!

here are my 3 tips for the saratoga meet. bet all steeplejumpers that PADDY YOUNG rides. stay away from all 2 yo's that came out of the OBS 2 yo in training sales, in saratoga or anywhere else in this large world. bet all 2 yo's maidens that trainer SETH BENZYL puts out.

Freedom Rings is ok, but she might be a hanger.
There are also at least 2 live longshots in that race.

I'm considering using the Dutrow/Dominguez horse in there. He will be a bomb and has some backclass. He also has a few nice runs over the track.

Must give NYRA a few and far between pat on the back for their opening day card at Saratoga...wow. Who thinks So N So has a shot in the Schuy.? The post is bad and she's a state bred, but if you do pace/speed figs of any kind you must recognize her ability to BLOW THIS OPEN on the turn (she can corner in less than :23, who else can do that? Maybe the 1-Hot Dixie Chick). Don't forget the value that exists in betting George Weaver and Dave Duggan all meet long.

This may be a record for earliest mush of the meet. I believe she is scratched. Perhaps the connections read this thread.

I was looking for my Bill Mott birthday horse and looked at Come From Behind in the 5th. My BRIS PP's show a race at Bel on 7/9 and then a workout at Sar on 7/10 and then another work at Bel tt on 7/19. Who had the mystery work on 7/10 at Sar? The horse could be interesting at a price if the real work between races was useful.

Is it as clear cut as keying Freedom Rings ?

Wheelaways (Big Brownie sire )actually grass pretty well on their first effort (ie.Slick Wheelie @ 47-1). I cannot agree any more with all the comments on Big Brownie's past efforts being ordinary or less than . However it is my sense that her connections have been looking for this type of spot . Plus the distance suits her pedigree perfectly.
Its a :7: w/ :1: :2: Part wheel exacta & Exacta Box :1: :2: :7:

Top picks:

I too like #12 Holiday Trip in the 6th. I'll bet to win & backwheel in the exacta.

And I like #9 Cairiene in the 4th too so I imagine a Pick 3 in races 4, 5, & 6 is order. :)

Hope they stay on the turf.

Last year I posted that there is a particular TV projector on the ground floor of the clubhouse (where many trainers and assistants watch races and the replay of a just ran race) where EVERY SINGLE YEAR NYRA fails to get the thing MOUNTED for the first 2 days of the meet and then it DOES NOT WORK for another day or two.

It's become a laughing joke with the SPA regulars who Ive become friendly with over the last decade. We even started taking bets which day/race the thing will be working properly.

BUT THIS WINTER at AQUEDUCT I thought Id make some easy money.. I ran into the top guy who's in charge of the TV's.
I explained the story and he laughed. I told him that he and I are gonna "take the pool down" and take these locals for everything they are worth. (ok maybe just $50.00 or so divided by two)
He GUARANTEED me that this year the projector would be up ON OPENING day and working.
So I told him we'll split the winnings..... I get out my phone book and 518 away till I have a good 100-125 bucks on the books.
So yesterday Im psyched to cash my first bet without even going to a window.. I walk into the clubhouse and the usual gang is there..laughing..

Guess what?? NYRA comes through again.....
Ill be dining at Wendys till saturday.:bang:

No TV in sight today either......

Another few days like this and even Wendy's is over budget.
