U.S. mulling private security in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON - U.S. military authorities in Afghanistan may hire a private contractor to provide around-the-clock security at dozens of bases and protect vehicle convoys moving throughout the country.

The possibility of awarding a security contract comes as the Obama administration is sending thousands of more troops into Afghanistan to quell rising violence fueled by a resurgent Taliban. As the number of American forces grow over the next several months, so too does the demand to guard their outposts.

It's sympomatic of just about everything the Left does. Political correctness reigns until their ass is in the frying pan.

How much trouble did the Left cause over Blackwater. War is about killing as many of the other side, and causing so much misery for the other side that they rethink their position or die! That's it!

They can never win in Afgan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan. Does not matter who decides to try. They draw a line on a map and say if you are on the wrong side of the line you are the enemy. Live in Pakistan and you are thought to be a friend of the USA for the most part. Step across the line in to Afgan and you are now considered an enemy of the USA. How would they define winning when it is a religion or ideology they are fighting not a country.

Ghangis Khan tried it when he went on his road trips with his policy of sending a messenger to the next village with the message to "surrender at dawn or we will kill every man, woman, child, and dog" in your village. When they did not surrender he did as he said. As soon as he moved on to the next city the same people he was trying to dominate just moved in to the city he just left so he basically accomplished nothing.

Sounds like a bad idea to me, unless they draft them or put them under the total controlof military officers. And even then probably a bad idea.

I agree, why not just let the military handle that.

insanity THEN and NOW.

security is not needed to protect anything if WE are not there.

So, we send our people(chumps) over there , then because WE won't man up and/or have enough mil to protect us, we hire out private contractors(former mil) to protect WHAT exactly.

While Pa wrings his hands over the how, the WHY is as faulty as ever.

Get out, if AFG can't/won't protect their interests then to hell with them.

If the population of Pak/Irq/AFG can't setup a gvt and system free of the Taiban or AQ then WE will NEVER do it for them.

The "left" , bama and the "right" are both deluded and wed to a policy neither of them can explain rationally or that has a 1 in 100 chance of doing a bit of good.

You can't do for people that which they will not do for themselves.

Why is that such an article of faith among the "right" on everything , except this fools errand?

Maybe they can send the 25,000 gentlemen in Calif who are scheduled to no longer have free housing in a few weeks.

They are already trained in firearms. Their ethics may be a little misguided but I assume that is not their fault. They are just misunderstood due to the decades of racism as Osama said in the past few days.

I don't think the original point of this thread was to argue whether or not the policy was right or wrong.

The point was that the left says one thing and does another.

You're showing your bias like a mis-kempt woman letting her petticoat hang below her dress, doggie. You should be applauding the Lefties currently in the WH calling the shots because at least they're consistent with their socialist agenda, i.e. "government must do for the people what they cannot do for themselves".

No, the point was that the lefties on this board will support Obama whatever he does. That has already been proven to be untrue.

But, as of yet, the usual suspects refuse to comment...perhaps they have flown the coop permanently....Hcap...Sec....Light....well, forget Light...but Hcap and Sec I'd be interested in hearing from....

And is this contract going to be a no-bid contract? I can't wait to see what happens if this contract goes out no-bid....
