there really isnt any money in any of those pools for the night tracks so what generally happens is that when someone takes a stance with a horse, they will wheel the horse up and down (especially in big fields) to catch a price with the exactas. im sure the 2 was bet heavy in the exactas and a similar situation happened with this outcome.

$2 Trifecta 11-12-4 1,250.00welcome to horseracing in 2009. i saw that outcome and saw payoffs after the horses crossed the wire. i thought it was coming back light when i saw the payoff @ $189.00. the after the bell and race bettor's brought it down to the $161. all it takes is 10 people hacking into the system for $2.00 exacta's to bring it down to that level. for some strange reason it doesn't look like the hackers are able to get into the trifecta and superfecta pools since penn national had their fiasco a few months ago.

Why would a hacker only bet a $2 exactor?

The biggest problem with past posting it perception, but that is huge.

The fact it has happened means that one can be paranoid it happens all the time. But if I was a hacker I would focus more on win, and to say they can only access one type of pool and not the others, if there are hackers to begin with, is pretty ludicrous.

I hardly think that we have a hacking issue going on.
Judging by the double prices, it appears that 50-1 was an overlay. And there is no mention that the winners odds most likely went up during the last call either. The horse was only 25-1 at 2 MTP.

Someone must have liked the exactor, maybe it was an outside biased track as well. There was only $39,000 in the pool as well.

Here are the exactor prices with the 12 winning:
$42 $94 $27 $28 $152 $81 $98 $175 $50 $87
And here they are off the winner:
$646 $1,338 $491$392 $3,605 $995 $2,050$2,213$846 $161

The 11-12 box was very popular. Now I'm not saying that there couldn't have been one or two places that kept the betting going for too long, because the horses were 1-2 most of the way around, but it isn't necessarily the case nor is it probable.

The problem, like I say is that the perception exists that hacking and past posting goes on.

Lots of people just box exactas out of habit too. Many people- or at least enough to lower the payout- probably had three or four horses and included the #11 as their longshot in the group.

one thing we know for sure, since there is no publicized security measures going on as far as i know, public perception will always be that someone out there is screwing them true or not. so the game loses players. if there are good reasons or not for odds changing and wagers being added or subtracted post running of races makes no difference to the people viewing the game.

i can also assure your that slot machines cannot and willnot offer security to the wagering pools, or benefit the actual bettors of the sport. neither will high takeouts like those they have in trifecta pools in canadien tracks like woodbine..

53-1 over 5/2 should pay around $370.

At Beulah park I had a 60-1 over the 5/2 favorite and it paid $744.00 in a 10 horse field.

Beulah isn't exactly big money. That payoff seems real odd.

I just checked Track Master PP's and the 12 was picked 2nd by them and the 11 was the 3rd choice. In fact, they picked the triactor in a three horse box.
Also, the horse was only 25-1 at 2 MTP.

Yes, the exactor underpaid, but I don't think it was due to past posting.

$2 x 60-1 x (5/2+1) = $420 fair pay.

In that instance, your Beulah exacta was way overlaid in relation to the odds on the tote.

I know Penn National is shady, but we're talking about tracks with small pools. Sometimes it goes one way, like the Beulah exacta that paid $300 more than it should have, and sometimes it goes less, like the Penn National exacta that paid $300 less. For the conspiracy theorists---the race was fixed and/or there's past posting, yet the horse paid $109 TO WIN. So the crooks didn't like that price but insisted on fixing the exacta instead? Common sense.

maybe we all have short memories. 5 years ago a group of guys hacked the pick six pool in the breeders cup. they cold konked 4 winners in a row that paid between $50 and over $100 and thent went all in the last 2 legs of the play.

bill nader figured it out that they bet the ticket after the first 4 races were run.

these guys were the only ones to hit the pick 6 that day. they all wound up giving the money back and went to jail for their dirty deeds. that is not a conspiracy, it was a reality.

as far as i know since that day there has been little done to protect the securety of the parimutual pools. a matter of fact i have been told by people inside the operations that the whole system needs a drastic overhaul and that the people running the tracks are unwilling to cough up the money to implement changes.

if the guys that hit the breeders cup pick six used more horses on their tickets and spent more money to hit it they may have never been found out and may still be doing it today.

changing odds during the races smell bad. i have no idea if he means that figuratively or litteraly!
he says he is not saying whether anything is going on or not, he just doesn't like it.
