Tonight in the first race at Canterbury, a three year old filly by the name of Raisin bread goes in a state bread clm 7500 n2l race. Last out she broke her maiden in a state bread mcl10000 earning a Beyer of 10.:D

I think she'll bounce. :)

Just watched her maiden win. The mile in 1:46.78 and 1m70 in 1:51:34 is molasses. But if she got a 10, what did the other five horses get, considering the 4 1/2 length winning margin? Have they started handing out negative Beyers?

The lowest winning number I can remember was a 16. I think it was a NY bred maiden race.
Beyer Bagels! :D
Used to see a lot of them at FL.

There aren't any negative Beyers, they would just fail to receive one.

After all these years of reading Beyer bashing, I finally see the flaw in the system: there is no way to differentiate between the slowest of the slow.
"I wonder if that's a high zero or a low zero."

Local fellow that I know casually at the Laughlin racebook I patronize says he likes to put a small win bet on any runner that earned a zero Beyer in its last race.In spite of many very long losing streaks he claims to hit a few real bombs every once in awhile.Pretty sure that I have seen zero figure horses win,but cannot recall when or where.Guy I mentioned skips the major tracks and prefers bottom of the barrel races at the cheapest tracks.

Exactly. :D The race looked normal except for being in slow mo. The second through 4th place horses were trying, albeit like bugs and the evil scientist (starting about 6:20).

June 30th, 6th race, Indiana Downs, winner was given a 7. I've seen a lot of single digit winning Beyers, especially in races for Indiana breds, over the years. I've seen a few at Laurel as well.
A few times I've seen Beyers artificially boosted just to give the winner a positive number.

There are negative Beyers, even though it will read -0. If you knew the Winner's Beyer, and the beaten lengths adjustment for the distance, it's easy to figure out.

The thread was asking about winning Beyers. I think everyone knows there are lots of subzero Beyers.

I saw a maiden Indiana-bred race at Hoosier Park several years ago where every horse in the field had a 0 last race Beyer...not sure what the winner got that night, but it couldn't have been much.

I was responding to Mac Guy's post above.
