This doesn't have much to do with anything, just thought I'd describe a weekly contest at a local OTB. We are blessed with three within a 20 minute drive here in NE Oklahoma.
$5.00 entry fee (multiple entries allowed).
Make selections on one racing card (currently Lonestar).
Pick one horse to win, and one alternate if scratched.
Points are assigned based on win payout. $6.00 winner gets 6 points.
Most points wins $100.00, guaranteed payout.
Get 100 points and win $1000.00.
If no one gets 100 points, the prize is bumped to $1100.00 the next week and the points needed reduced to 95, the next week to
$1200.00 and 90 points, etc.
This goes once a week, on Sundays. Today the kitty was up to $1,500.00 and only 75 (!) points required. You must be present to enter and win. Had to leave so I don't know if it was hit today or not. The 9th race winner alone ($81.00) could have taken the pot.
Last week I missed the $100.00 by .2/point.
