View Full Version : Barclay tagg
Anyone catch that 20-25 minute interview That TAGG did with the NY press at belmont Today?
Boy...what a cool customer that Barclay Tagg is. He said he will work Funnycide a 1/2 Mile tommorrow and then Cantor him 6F.
He's Projecting, and Hoping to run the same trip. Said he see's 3-4 speed horses in there that he'd like to stalk about 4-5 lengths off the 1/4 and 1/2 mile fractions.
He Appeared pretty sure of himself.

and waht trainer isn't.
What do you think he would say Suff...the horse sucks. :D
The "Coolness" I was reffering to was'nt the HYPE on his Horse..
Its that TAGG, although a Player on The NorthEast Circuit.... Has no Derby Winners....and has never been in this spot.
I would'nt have been surprised if he showed a Little anxiety at all the attention, and all the "Possibilties" he has now has in front of him.
Its like a First Year manager being in the World Series... You might expect to see the "Spooked" Look in his eyes.
Tagg was Calm , cool, collected....even a little Humorous...and certainly down to Earth.
He's a Savvy trainer who Commands Respect at NYRA, PHILLY, N.J. and MD circuits. I was assurred by his demeanor that he's not overwhelmed. He's a Seasoned Trainer who has earned his stripes. I wish him and his Horse the Best.
I see others have sensed the same thing with TAGG that I did.
He is eerily calm.....

Would you find it shocking? I did?
If you were Part of racings elite would you find it Insulting? I hope so?
If you were an arrogant Northeasterner Like me would you find it perfect? I did!!
Prior to his Derby WIN...
Barclay Tagg had never been to Churchill downs in his life because:
" I had no reason to go there" LoL I love it.
CHOKE ON THAT!!!
GO NY RACING!!! GO NY BREDS!!!

Here this guy wins the Derby after a million years of trying and he has to act so cool. I guess coolness is part of the job. Lukas acted cool and Baffert is Mr. Cool.
Maybe the attitude goes back to the real old days when trainers were just supposed to relate to the horses and not the people. Like Tom Smith in Seabiscuit's story.
