Can you believe that Philadelphia Park has chosen the name PARX for its casino? Seriously, what suit making six-figures thought of this beauty?
Anyway, management presented what was billed as the "largest fireworks display on the East Coast" the night of July 4, held on track grounds. They didn't let the horsemen know what was happening until it was already scheduled. The fireworks also featured loud, blaring music in addition to the traditional booms emitted by the gunpowder. In other words, there was a bit of chaos on the backstretch, including loose horses. A trainer sent me this video shot that night, and while it doesn't show any horses running loose, you can get a pretty good idea of what these animals went through:
