View Full Version : Volponi
Returns today in a 7f sprint.
Question for the board...why is he allowed to remove blinkers after a win, especially one as big as the BC Classic? Just curious.

Why would he not be "allowed" to remove blinkers? Is there some prohibition against the trainer doing what he wants that I am not aware of?

There is no "rule" that he is not allowed to remove blinkers, that I am aware of.

His return is a prep race, I wouldn't have nickle on him to win.
This horse is most dangerous when he's wearing blinkers

You have to get permission from the stewards to change equipment after a victory, and its usually not very easy. Guess its easier if you have a BC winner.
You would not see this in a claiming race without very unusual circumstances.

I read somewhere that Volponi has a history of blinkers on, blinkers off, on, off, etc. Not too unusual from that standpoint.
One thing is clear, this horse will not be going all out for a win today.
