Race 1

3 Canterbury Lady (9/2 ml)

Figures to improve in second start for Baird. Showed improved early zip
in last.

1 Song of the Siren (12/1 ml)

Seemed to like the synthetic surface a little better, but this mare may
improvement in first start for Johnson as this race is weak even for 5K
maiden claimers.

4 Chaissai La Femme ( 5/2 ml)

Minor award specialist. Tried different tactics in last out. Figures to lay off the pace and run one paced for the pieces.

The Play: Exacta box 1-3-4, Win on #3 at 3/1 or better.

Race 2 (If on turf)

5 Fist of the Fleet (3/5 ml)

Looks to be too quick for this group.

2 Seeking The Honey (5/1 ml)

Consistent mare is 5/6 itm on turf. Could get up, but don't know if she has the early foot to keep up with the #5.

3 Versary (30/1 ml)

Bombs away for Ganpath if this mare can improve for 1st on turf. Does show some hidden turf breeding.

The play: Exacta 5,2 / 3 and 3 / 5,2

Race 3 ---PASS

Lots of speed among the 2,6,7. Your guess is as good as mine.

Race 4

4 Girls Image (2/1 ml)

Amoss filly looks to be very tough. Don't know what went wrong at Pid but she's entered right back so no concern for me.

1 Elizabeth's Dream (12/1 ml)

This filly has the ability to rate and Johnson is more than capable off the layoff.

2 She's a Minardi (6/1 ml)

4 yo filly showed improvement earlier this year and was placed ambitiously in return after 2 month layoff. She was used up after setting rapid fractions and returns to the dirt today. Should be winging it early.

The Play: Ex box 1,2,4. Also, key the #4 in the trifecta in the first two positions with ALL.

5th Race

10 Legendary Queen

Looks to be very tough in this spot. Went wide in last while making a move on the turn. Rivera sticks and have to think he will last longer this time.

2 Charge Due

Good effort in last after a tardy break. Wheels back in 16 days and this is the 3rd off layoff.

7 A Shortt Tour

Showed improvement in 3rd off layoff. Should be on or near the lead at the top of the stretch.

The Play: Ex box 2-7-10. Win on 2,10 if 4/1 or better.

6th Race

3 Flat Rich

Last was a sneaky improvement IMO. Wheeled back just one week later and Barria sticks. This may be a live longshot.

6 Lefty Lenny

Houghton seems to be Reed's go to rider. This colt ships from River Downs and will likely be a underlaid at post time.

1 Atlantic Rider

Likely post time favorite draws the rail and definitely fits with these.

The Play: Exacta box 1,3,6. Win on #3 at 6/1 or better.

7th Race

5 Kung Fu Slew

Figures to be closer up today and with a good trip could run down the leaders in the lane. 10/1 morning line is much too high.

6 My Maracas Bay

Like the #5, figures to get a better trip tonight. Would not surprise at all. Look for stalk and pounce.

3 Private Benj

Shortens up after running 2nd as the favorite at Charles Town.

The play: Exacta box 3,5,6. Win bet on #5 at 6/1 or better. Win on #6 at 7/1 or better.

Race 8

PASS--- #1 looks legit.

Race 9

9 Lovely Fire

Shanyfelt claims this one back and stretches back out and figures to stalk behind the speed. Should be tough.

3 Ura Wild One

Will probably look to take back and make one run. Should be there for the minor awards.

4 Quick Verdict

Same as above.

The Play: 3,9 ex box and 4,9 exacta box.

Race 10

4 Driving Miss Chelsea

Returns after being off since last October. Jockey/Trainer combo is decent and the favorite figures to be a closer in a sprint. I'll take a shot.

9 Runaway Scout

The obvious choice for Houghton and Baird will be looking to close late.

1 Summer Cyclone

Should have benefitted from last. Was very active at the claim box last year and could be live from the rail.

The Play: Ex box 1,4,9 . Win on #4 at 4/1 or better.

Just wanted to say nice job of explaining your picks. Usually I'm too lazy to do it--I think everyone should.

Thank You. I do it because it makes me more accountable. Also, if I really like a horse, I would rather say why so that people won't confuse it with every other selection.

Dreadful night for me. But that's horse racing.

Still a good thread coach lowe, you did a nice job!! Mountaineer IMO is one of the toughest tracks to cap and analyze, it continues to frustrate and humble me to this day. I agree with CBedo, I rarely have time myself to post anaylsis, glad you had the time, unfortunately in this game there will be many off nights but the great thing about horseracing is that there are many more opportunities the next day, keep up the good work and good luck to you!! :)
