Rookies

Even older than the Spa, the oldest (June 27, 1860) thoroughbred horse race in North America, the G1 Queen's Plate goes today in Toronto.

I have a Father's Day family event to attend to, but before I go, I am putting the following in:

Winner: Tasty Temptation
Exactors & Tris: Tasty Temptation & Rapid Release over Milwaukee Appeal, Mr. Foricos Two U, Eye of the Leopard & Active Duty.

going to be a good race. I see that Baze has a few mounts up there today so if the price is anywhere near the morning line at post time then the :12: will get a few $$$ to win and place from me.

Mr Foricos Two U with Mike Smith looks pretty good at 15/1 ML.

Milwaukee Appeal keeps improving as does Tasty, but the latter will be almost too far back to get there: will be close.

The fillies have better speed figs going in.
I like Tasty Temptation. It is her turn today.

Cangamble, I would have thought Chantel would have a steed here. Any ideas as to why she isn't riding?

She has only ridden one of the horses in the field, and Mike Smith got that mount.

Besides, she now has a web site:

For two years during World War 1 horseracing was cancelled in Canada except this race. The entire race meet for those two years was restricted to this one race.

I like both the Porto Foricos horses, Shut it Down and Mr. Foricos. I'm with you on Baze and Lorne Richards has good stakes stats; while Mr. Foricos is a Catherine Day Phillips horse, can't go wrong there! I'll take Milwaukee over the other filly, better trainer stats in stakes and I like the way she won the last. For Father's Day, the father/son Attard horses would be nice longshots Buchephalos and Keino West.

Thanks for the food for thought. I am real excited about having the chance to watch it.More important to Know what I am seeing as to appreciate it--

My 83Year old uncle wants me to throw 10 on the 4... He is unreal--He watches the races and only has (me) wager the #4 when he thinks the #4 has a shot--

33Years in the service musta got to him--God Bless him. Thats one of the Ecentric things in years to come we will remember--

You can probably toss Milwaukee Appeal. That's the pick of a model I've been experimenting with the last couple of weeks! :bang:

Of all the jockeys in North America, why in the world would you choose Stewart Elliot to ride Milwaukee Appeal in a million dollar race? A very uninspired ride.

I couldn't help but laugh . I've always been critical of the split screen , but when they split it 3 ways with the bouncing blocks , the pan , and the zoom , I wonder if anyone with less than a 32" screen can see anything without pressing their nose against the television screen . They could split it even further and show the head-on as well . Interesting race none-the-less .

i find beyer's figures next to useless at WO. so much for the fillies.

what i wish. i wish terry jordan's horses would be sequestered 5 days before they race. that man has a BAG full of stimulants.

I was going to bet the fillies until I saw Eye of the Leopard kick with his right rear leg, as the escort rider was attempting to adjust his blinkers. After he kicked, he looked back to see if anyone was really behind him.
He was so full of himself that I realized in that moment that he was indeed, for real.

I have found casually, through observation, that comedy in the post parade is often a sure sign of a relaxed winner.

Did anyone watch Zenyatta before her last race, pawing the ground like a dog? She did it for quite awhile. She was playing with the dirt before the race.

Just keep in mind, when you see Terry Jordan's horses running at Woodbine, that's the best of the best of his stable.

It's not uncommon for him to start the year with 50 or 60 horses in Vancouver during spring training. He only sends the best of his stable to Woodbine, the rest are either run at Hastings or he tells his owners to get rid of them.

His second string at Hst isn't actually doing all that well this year, he's got 32 starts and only 4 wins. His "A" horses at Woodbine have brought him 14 wins from 32 starts so far this year.

I used to think he had some sort of chemical cheating going on, but the more I follow his operation, the more I see he's just really good at culling the stable and running his horses to win. You certainly won't ever see any 1 for 20 lifetime horses running under his name.
