Well I'm out after Race 5. Had the 2nd and 3rd place horses, but that 9 horse snuck up and got me.

Went out with my brother tonight and ended up at the Fiesta Casino in Henderson, Nv. I put in a $48 ticket (left off the 10 in R6), and had a blast (and a bunch of cocktails) rooting home each leg, especially after the 34.80 (or something of the like) horse in the first leg.

In the second leg, besides for not playing the :10: on top, I only used him under in the exacta and BARELY got the :11: home.

In the seventh, I started to outthink myself, and didn't have a dime on the :2: to win, even though he was great value at 4/1. Instead, I wasted 20 bucks hedging my pick 4 by betting the :1:. At least it made the stretch run easier to watch!

In the last leg, I was alive to a 8200 payoff to the 6 and a 3500 payoff to the 10. I had thrown out (last tosses of course) the :2: & :3:. The 3 was getting pounded and I was trying to figure out how to hedge (slash lock-in) some profits, but the problem was that I didn't have but about 200 in my pocket, and left my atm card at home. I loved the :6: and was going to just go down swinging with him, but then he scratched (which gave me the :3: by way of the favorite, so I put about 50 on the 7/2 2 and 20 on everyone else (all at about 10/1 or over), which looking back was ridiculis, but mass cocktails will make a guy paranoid!

Luckily for me the :10: ran a great race, and I hit the pick 4. The funny thing was that the Fiesta, being a small local casino, had people rooting me home and some rooting against me, haha. The most hilarious part was trying to get paid. When the cashier inserted the ticket, it came up "insufficient funds"--he didn't have that much in his drawer!

Just when I was ready to give up on the fake dirt.......:ThmbUp:

Well I'm out after Race 5. Had the 2nd and 3rd place horses, but that 9 horse snuck up and got me.I would have been out early tossing Soda Pop Kid (or whatever his name is). I would have had to go all in that race to get it done.

The 9 made my night for the pick 4 though.

Nice handicapping and nice hit on thet pick 4. Did you play the pick 6?

It's kind of funny. The pick 4 for a $1 pays over 3000. Pick 5 out of 6 in over a 2 mil pool and you would only clear $1100 for a $2 wager. I know why that is, but just seems to unfair.

I still don't know how Soda Pop Kid won that race.

I still don't know how Soda Pop Kid won that race.I didn't play the pick 6, and of course being the greedy horse player that I am, and just thinking about the single in race 3 and then punching all in 4 would have given me somewhere between a 336 to a 504 dollar ticket to get a piece of that monster, haha. The reality is that I very rarely play the pick 6 because my belief is that playing those medium size tickets (all my bankroll would allow) seems to usually just subsidize the bigger players. I either want to be part of a three to five thousand dollar ticket, or I want to play one for fifty bucks--no tweeners.

I agree that the payoffs were interesting tonight. When I saw what the pick 3 paid for the first three legs of the pick 4, I was pleasantly surprised. I think getting the big longshot home in the first leg seems to always help, and also, even though there weren't any bombs the rest of the way, there were no favorites either.
