I have been wracking my brains as to possible ways to create a rating the gives an indication of whether a horse has the stamina to last the distance or not. Finding it very hard to come up with a good solution. I am based in the UK so the data is quite poor. I have been wondering about using some kind of speed figure and distance behind winner to calculate races where it has had a comparitvely good speed rating (for itself) but still been a long distance behind the winner, suggesting that it may not have the stamina. Does anyone have any thoughts?
