I used to have a card with the correct amounts (percents) to bet on two horses based on odds. Seem to have misplaced it. Can anyone give me a quick and easy formula or something for this method of play?
Thank you:p

1/(0dds+1) x the amount you want RETURNED to you.

say 3-1 horse

1/4= .25 X $100 = a wager of $25.00. If the beast wins, you are returned $100.00 for your $25.00 wager.

In the very long run, the dutch betting profit rate should equal the flat bet profit rate.

This is a link to a dutching chart at Jerry Stokes' site.
I know there is a free calculator program out there somwhere, but I can't find it tonight. Maybe someone will remember it and post the link.

Here is one posted by a capper that I have tried. I try to use 3 horses and can get a pretty high percentage of one of those three finishing first. Have not yet figured out how to come out ahead though. Maybe I don't quit soon enough.

The Dutch Method

In this type of system, the player is torn between playing multiple
horses in a win only wager. Look at the chart below and find the odds
of the horses you like. Next to each is a percentage number that
indicates the horse's chance of winning the race. Each number represents
the dollar amount you would need to wager on each horse choosen to show
a profit from the race (obviously, as long as one of the horses you selected
wins the race).

Odds Percentage Odds Percentage Odds Percentage Odds Percentage
1/9 90 1/5 83 2/5 71 1/2 67
3/5 62 4/5 56 1/1 50 6/5 45
7/5 42 3/2 40 8/5 38 9/5 36
2/1 33 5/2 29 3/1 25 7/2 22
4/1 20 9/2 18 5/1 17 6/1 14
7/1 13 8/1 11 9/1 10 10/1 9
15/1 6 20/1 5 25/1 4 30/1 3

Here is a working example for clarity. In the race you like four horses
whose odds are 7/2, 5/1, 8/1 and 10/1 with about 2 minutes to post
and for whatever reason can not pick one. No problem, play them all!
Are you crazy? There's no way I can make any money from the race if I
do that! Sorry, sir yes you can ~ as long as one of your choices wins!
Here is what you need to do: wager as indicated below

Dollars Wagered Odds Percentage Potential Return Profit
$22 7/2 22 $99 + $40 +
$17 5/1 17 $102 + $43 +
$11 8/1 11 $99 + $40 +
$9 10/1 9 $99 + $40 +
Total dollars wagered: $59. Minimum return $99. Minimum profit $40.

Now hurry up and get that wager placed!
