We are in the boondocks... They tranquilized it, blindfolded and it took it away to the wilderness.

Good thing this was a small and young female Moose...if she'd had a calf stashed somewhere...those guys woulda been in deep s**t !!

No doubt, she'll be fine.

Am nitpicking, but a couple of errors.First, the young cow could not have been 1 1/2 years old.Moose calves are born in the spring,April-June,not December,so make her a yearling 12-14 months old.Quite likely she had just recently been kicked out by her mother when she had a new calf.Next, she was not close to weighing 500 pounds, perhaps 350-400.When fully grown,Eastern cow moose weigh 600-800 pounds, bulls 900-1200.In spite of their ungainly looks, moose are very formidible foes, and a cow with a calf or a bull during the rut can be very aggressive toward humans.

Does the DRF or BRIS put out anything that covers Moose pps ? Or does one have to make their own figures ? It may give a new meaning to mix breed races, evidently those crazy people at the NYRA are willing to try anything to boost attendance...........
