after the 3rd the rest of the card was cancelled. a lot of people were upset with the results of the photo in the 3rd showing the 1 beating the 5 by a small margin when it clearly looked like the 5 hit the wire first

The tote system must have blown up finally.

Good Grief! Two Tote System failures and now a Transformer Fire in about a three week period! What's next? I hope they aren't near an airport or near any standard take-off or landing patterns. (I'm 10 miles from O'Hare but in light with a takeoff/landing pattern - and still get concerned when I look up in the near-sky sometimes.)

If you thinks that's bad, you should see the recieving barn. Gotta be top three worst in America.

Holes all in the stalls. Mats sticking up in all different directions making it extremely uneven for the horses to stand on for hours at a time. And difficult for you to have to work around. Thick mats that are spaced apart where you step inbetween then and twist an ankle. Broken glass in portions of the shedrow from the windows. Dirt piles filling the wash racks up. Lighting spaced too far apart screwing with your eyesight and making it tough to see what you are doing in some stalls.
Oh and lets not forget the once a week cleaning of the stalls. All they do is come in and throw fresh straw over the top.

CITATION1947:

My advice...show some courage and complain to PENNSYLVANIA STATE'S
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY BOARD for the workers' sake, and the SPCA for the horses' sake. There's no excuse for all these shortcomings at PENN NATIONAL racetrack.

Shame on Penn National and especially PENN NATIONAL GAMING. Look at all the casinos they own, and they are one of the stingiest organizations around, what with no free live video at any of the tracks they own, plus sky-high takeout rates at many of their racetracks. I'd love to see PENN NATIONAL GAMING fined and publicly embarrassed by some government departments.

They've had 2 days of closing the pools early....there must have been an enormous handle spike in those 2 days, fans must be coming out of the woodwork trying to take advantage of early pool closings.

Patient - "doctor, every time I raise my arm above my shoulder it hurts really bad"

Doctor - "Don't lift your arm above your shoulder, that will be $65"

Stop looking up !!

Some tracks should not be played out of a general sense of decency.

What a slum and operated like one as well.

racing on welfare, could it become anything else but BAD news!!!!

Can you believe Fabulous Strike trains over that dump? The last refuge of broken-down owners and trainers trying to cop inflated purses fueled by grandmoms playing nickel slots. Some people have no shame.
