Dear Mr. Jackson,

Please consider running Rachel Alexandra in the Stephen Foster Handicap. Her workouts seem consistent with her being in good shape for the distance. She is familar and happy with the track, so there wouldn't be concerns about handling the footing. An appearance in the Stephen Foster would answer critics of her not facing her elders yet. A head to head matchup with Einstein would look good on her resume for HOY.

I look forward to seeing her race again at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely yours,
xxx

ps. Calvin has already committed to another horse for the race.

They skipped the Belmont, and they will run in the Stephen Foster instead?

I don't think so...

Agreed. The post is mostly tongue in cheek.

However, the 1 1/8m distance is right up her alley. It's on her home track, which she loves. She'll have had 4 weeks off since the Preakness. Everything works better for her as far as maximizing her chance for a win compared to the Belmont.

But, having said she's not ready to go this week, it would look funny if they said she was ready to go next week.

Oh well, maybe the Clark in November. Unless Einstein is resting then, after winning the BC Classic.
