Didn't Beyer in the immediate previous column say that he was eliminating all the entrants that ran in the SA Derby? Now two of his contenders to upset come out of that very race!

He must be into the mint juleps a little early this year.
Last night on ESPN2 he threw out all left coast horses and today he likes them to upeset? This is the guywhose figures are showing a long term profit on derby day and he usually refuses to bet them.
Good figure makers do not make good bettors.

Beyer concludes

Any of the others would have to improve drastically to outrun Empire Maker, and Frankel believes it can't happen. "I believe the script is already written," the trainer declared. "I think he's meant to win it."

What's he smokin?

Funny Cide's Beyer rating was 1 point behind EM's in his last race?

Today we'll hear all the excuses why Funny won. Truth is he had the figures!!!! It was a formful race.

That and the running style of EM is why I played Funny Cide.
The last sentence above is fact. It was probably the most formful Triple Crown race I have seen in a few years.
