All of them together, Eset, Norton, etc.. aren't 1/10th as effective in protecting the home or business computer as the program Sandboxie, developed by the Israeli, Ronen Tzur. (Tzuk)

Look into it... Sandboxie is lightweight, needs little configuration and lets you browse effectively and safely.. You can do anything you want with a sandboxed application, even inadvertently download malware.. And when you are finished with your session, you can just delete the sandbox.. and everything in the session is deleted. If you want to save bookmarks, cookies, etc.. that is easily configured.. Also, its great for testing new apps.. Nothing will break out of the sandbox.. so, after you examine it... delete it.. Your system will remain pristine.. Even test malware if you like...

You can check it out at Wilders.. Also, Steve Gibson of Gibson Research has often promoted it on his site and in his seminars and is himself a user and avid fan of Sandboxie.

Gibson says about Sandboxie on his site..

Leo and I return to take a much closer look at “Sandboxie,” an extremely useful, powerful, and highly recommended Windows security tool we first mentioned two years ago. This time, after interviewing Sandboxie's creator, Ronen Tzur, I explain why I am totally hooked and why Leo is wishing it was available for his Macs.

Here is the link to the interview...

I currently have Trend Micro PC-cillin since it came with my laptop, but I have in the past (and will again when my subscription expires) used Kaspersky Internet Suite. I have found it to not only be super effective, but also it seems to have very low overhead, and doesn't seem to interfere with my other processes as some others do.

Dave, for someone like you who has a bunch going on (programs, Camatasia or other video recording, net meetings, etc), I'd highly recommend it.

There are several free sandbox software utilities, including for Macs.
See for example:

Often these are used in schools where kids play around with the internet much as they want - then the sandbox/ virtual machine is wiped each night to restart each day in the original state.
In Linux you can configure a sandbox directory yourself with a few configuration commands.
