after breaking his maiden at belmont in less than par time he runs 3rd in the remsen,then resurfaces at sa. in a restricted race and runs second.then in the florida derby he faces no one and runs a nice beyer which horses almost always do when they are in against nothing.then in the wood he faces even less and just gets the win.frankle says we wanted something left in the tank for the derby.he was life and death to stay in front of funny cide in the wood,that horse is a new york bred for the love of god.also he drifted in against the new york bred in the wood.hey he's a nice horse but he aint no big favorite in my book.if he wins it then i'll be on the triple crown bandwagon,but i say he's a tremondous derby favorite to bet against.

There is a very good chance that Empire Maker will not be your favorite.

Driving home from the Oaks and listening to the sportstalk stations on the radio. WHAS is reporting that EM is 8-1 after the betting today. I nearly fell out of the car.

Now the day before money is primarily coming from this crowd in Ky. but from 6-5 to 8-1...wow! If this trend even slightly continues we may see a big shift coming. There may be some value in betting him if this is a future indicator. 9-2 or 5-1 would be superb value for the horse with clearly the best current numbers and tactical speed.

I will try to go by memory:

Ten Most Wanted 9-2 lukewarm favorite.

Peace Rules 6-1 down from 8-1

Funny Cide getting ignored big time. I think 27-1 or so.

AtswhatI'mtalkingabout at 8-1 down from 12

Indian Express down from ML

Buddy Gil at 5-1 or so

Brancusi UP to 32-1 ??

And a few of the big longshots seeing some action.

So, Even with Sir Cher scratch (damn!) nearly all going down with Ten Most getting the play.

Tomorrow will be very interesting.

BTW, hit Bird Town (yea!) in the Oaks but stupidly forgot to bet the Oaks/Derby double. It will pay nice.
