They're supposed to do another Crossroads tour this summer, NJ? Chicago?

The kid plays really nice. Even though i love and always will love that rock vibe, i have been veering more towards guys like Michael Hedges, Andy Mckee and Tommy Emmanuel....and the obvious smooth jazz playing of George Benson and Norman Brown. The kid in the video should have a nice career though one way of the other. rbj

He has the potential to be really good some day , but has to mature more as a solid musician . Its one thing to burn up a fingerboard , another to create tone and melody . I'll admit a lot of sound is lost through the video and is somewhat scratchy , and the fact that the sheer volumn of his guitar drowns out his backup team , less the drummer , doesn't help any either . Not to be overly critical , he's good , but a few chapters short of being really good ... imo .

He's very smooth and sounds like he models his style after Clapton.

Ralph, been listening to Cray for along time - he is very good.

Love these guys, too, for good blues - saw them live.

Cray played backup Guitar for some acts at Woodstock and he came up with Clapton.......he is heard on many many famous albums as a studio musician. Cray and Clapton are close personal friends.

Cray has been spotted with Clapton in Central Ohio

Clapton is married to a nice young lady from Columbus Ohio......and they spend time together with their children at the Grandparents house near Columbus. He also has a home near Columbus

Great clips in here; thanks.

Can’t let a guitar thread go by without the man who won best overall guitarist so many times Guitar player magazine banned him from the award.

You name the style of playing or composition, Steve Morse is a master besides being the most humble / down to earth genius you have ever met. If you would like a sample of what a 5 piece band can accomplish, please pick up the Dixie Dregs fusion master piece of “What If” recorded in 1978.

The many styles of Steve Morse…

• Awesome Double Picking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76svWOj8B04

• Bluegrass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9PmrH0demA&feature=related

• Slow Rock Groove: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATSk82pt348&feature=related

• Funk / Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF33trDlCAU&feature=related

• Melodic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6oi_llH--g

• Classical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2flR-0QhkE&feature=related

How he currently feeds his family with Deep Purple: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8tC1s-7U00

Saving the best for last…

As a composer; this song was arranged for a 5 piece, but I can only find it performed as a 3 piece. For you fanatics; check out the chordal harmonization and subtle time signatures changes that you don’t really notice until you count it out. As brilliant an electronic chamber piece as has been written for decades imo and Steve and NJ’s own Dave Larue do a nice job of duplicating the violin and keys. Please check out the studio version on “What If”…you won’t regret it.

Glad you liked it Ralph; I’ve seen him live over 30 times and talked with him several and each time I gain more respect for him. He must play the Deep Purple gigs to pay the bills, because his style of instrumental music just won’t pay the nut. Yet; he still tours with his own band and practically pays to play just to give back. The man is a pure legend among musicians and yet in a national pole most would say…Steve Who?

Music; the only profession I’m aware of where the more dedicated and the better you play…the less you make. :bang:

Some might find this interesting...a thread from an Amazon board...the topic is "top ten all-time guitar solos".

Eight pages of both the "same-old" along with some that will surprise.

Thanks PC, interesting;

There is no “wrong” in music. If it pleases your ear / it’s good and vice a versa; but…

This one I found interesting…

Chuck Potocki says:

My Top Ten Favorite Guitar Solos:

2. "She"-Ace Frehley (Kiss-Alive! 1975)
3. "Shock Me"-Ace Frehley (Kiss-Alive II 1977)
5. "Adventures In A Yorkshire Landscape"-Bill Nelson (Be-Bop Deluxe-Live In The Air-Age 1977)

He makes a brilliant call on Bill Nelson who may be as under rated a singer song writer as there has been in my lifetime and then he rates Ace Frehley #2 and 3. Again; there is no “wrong”; it’s what he thinks, but there is a phrase among musicians when a mistake (wrong note etc…) is made and it’s called hitting a “Clam”. Ace Frehley may be in the Guinness book for most ‘Clam’s in one lifetime.
