Hollywood Park, a trendsetter in giveaway premiums, attracted a record crowd of 80,348 with a tote bag giveaway on May 4, 1980.

I once got a watch from a giveaway at HP. I think it was in the 80's. (are we in the 2000's now?) It had black and red stripes and looked some some sort of Gucci knockoff. I loved it and wore it a lot. My friend thought it looked cheesy but I actually got compliments about it from strangers.

I have a small (2 1/2" x 3") red am-fm portable radio that I got one time at Hollywood (circa Marge Everett). It still works. I refer to it as my free, $300 radio! :(

I have a HOL PARK $300 belt buckle and a $250 SHOEMAKER pin. Trade for the radio?

If they offered a tote bag today, the 14 homeless guys who dig through tossed tickets looking for abandoned winners would be there in a heartbeat. The other 79,986 folks would be at home, on the internet.

I had one of the worst days of my betting life at that Totebag giveaway. I still have the bag and I have fun showing it off as my "Free $750 Totebag!"

Never been to HOL but I still have my Lite Light vs Meadow Star buttons from the 1991 Coaching Club American Oaks. Cost me a bundle but it's one of my coolest pieces of memorabilia from my days in NY. :)
