I still regard the Travers as the Bigger Race, but I agree with you.

I'd still rather win the Travers. It's steeped in history and at old Saratoga to boot.

It's not even close; the Travers is a far bigger race with a much larger impact on the winning horse future because of tradition and the Saratoga venue. It is like comparing the KY Derby and the Preakness. Both are popular, but imparting the impact to the winning horse; the KY Derby has a widening gap.

Travers by a mile, though it is cool how every single person wears the free hat on haskell day

THREE miles: just look at the relative fields over the years: NO COMPARISON.

True historically, no doubt Travers, lately I think the Haskell has picked up a little momemtum.

Haskell's been better because Monmouth sticks 50 grand in the pocket of the trainer of a superstar horse to come there as an 'appearance fee'.I don't think NYRA does the same stuff.

you know what monmouth should do?

they should move the haskell up 2 or 3 weeks.

and use it as a natural progression race instead of an either the haskell OR the travers.

the nyra does not have to the best barns in the wotld send a string to the old spa for the best summer racing with the highest purses....travers by a mile!
