Thx for the head's up JOANIED....An interesting and thought provoking spin....And, I agree with the author about the triple crown going only to the best of the best....

Me too, LottaKash....although some of the past near misses have left me empty because I thought the horse was the best...like Silver Charm & Smarty...
I thought what he said about MTB in the Preakness was right on the mark...this is gonna ruffle some feathers (pardon the pun)...but if MTB was going to be a TC winner...he should have been able to beat Rachel in the Preakness...some say, well, if the race had been a little longer, he'd have passed her and won...but that is why the TC is so damned hard to win...MTB would have to be able to win at the shorter distance...but he didn't...for whatever reason is beside the point.
But I do want to see another TC winner sooooooooo badly:faint: heavy sigh!!

The author is exactly right...those that complain about competition denying a Triple Crown winner would be cheapening it if they had their way...should all "new shooters" for the Preakness be banned because they didn't run in the Derby? Of course not as they often make it a more interesting race...beating the same horses each time would be relatively boring.
